— Energy Collection and Storage Energy Storage
— Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)
A Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), is the industry’s generic reference name for a collection of equipment that comprise a system to store energy in batteries and use the energy later when it is advantageous. A typical system is comprised of batteries, a battery management system, an inverter, switchgear, transformer, protection and a control system.
Often renewable energy sources are combined with a BESS to store the renewable energy during peak production time and then the energy is used when it is needed.

— Power Distribution Energy Storage
Energy Storage Solutions (ESS)
Bridging the gap between decarbonization and electrification ABB’s fully digitalized energy storage portfolio raises the efficiency of the grid at every level with factory-built, pre-tested solutions that achieve extensive quality control for the highest level of safety. ABB’s solutions can be deployed straight to the customer site, leading to faster installation, shorter project execution time, and higher savings for customers.
ABB's energy storage solutions raise the efficiency of the grid at every level by:
• Providing smooth grid integration of renewable energy by reducing variability • Storing renewable generation peaks for use during demand peaks • Flattening demand peaks, thereby reducing stress on grid equipment • Providing infrastructure support as loads increase with electric vehicle use • Decreasing or eliminating the power fees related to short time peak loads • Maintaining generation and demand balance

— Power Distribution Energy Storage
Energy Storage Solutions (ESS)
A Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), is the industry’s generic reference name for a collection of equipment that comprise a system to store energy in batteries and use the energy later when it is advantageous.
A typical system is comprised of batteries, a battery management system, an inverter, switchgear, transformer, protection and a control system.
Often renewable energy sources are combined with a BESS to store the renewable energy during peak production time and then the energy is used when it is needed.
ABB’s ESS product line is based on the eStorage product portfolio, which is comprised of eStorage Flex, eStorage Max and eStorage OS.
eStorage Flex Productized and scalable energy storage supplied as a fully integrated solution
eStorage Max Productized and scalable energy storage supplied as skidded grid connection equipment and fully integrated batteries
eStorage OS Standard or highly customizable Energy Management System

ABB Ability™ Condition Monitoring for Electrical Systems (CMES)
Monitor the condition of ABB's low voltage switchgear and motor control center MNS and NeoGear and it connected to load such as motors .It records and analyzes past and current events to prevent, predict conditions and monitor and manage energy consumption - anytime from anywhere, with ABB Ability™ Condition Moni- toring for electrical systems (CMES). ABB Ability™ CMES is the innovative on premise-based monitoring platform that enables switchgear operators and plant maintenance managers to monitor and manage electrical distribution systems and motor control centers via smartphone, tablet, or computer in real time to optimizes maintenance and operational costs and energy consumption. Installed as integral part of the switchgear assembly at the time of manufacturing the solution monitors the complete lifetime of a switchgear from FAT in the manufacturers’ assembly location, through commissioning including start-up phase and operational life.
Cloud connectivity options complete the solution offering. Thus, the condition monitoring solution enables predictive capabilities that reduces downtime needed for maintenance and enables users to reduce operational costs.
